Wisdom Steps Program

The Wisdom Steps Program encourages Elders to actively participate in programs that promote health screenings, health education, healthy living activities, and evidence-based health programs. The program was developed by elders for elders and facilitated by the State of Minnesota. Elders who become members of the Wisdom Steps Program and complete a minimum of 46,000 steps per year and who complete the health screenings and exams become eligible to attend the annual Wisdom Steps Conference free of charge.

Participants earn incentives and recognition at the conference for their work towards becoming healthy and the number of steps that they walk during the year through a Tier system.

The Wisdom Steps Program is facilitated by a Board of Directors comprised of tribal elders from Minnesota Tribes and who are appointed by their Tribal Government. The Bois Forte Tribal appointed member is Gloria Love 1-800-992-7529 and the alternate is Doris Isham 218-757-3650. Gloria Love receives administrative support from Doris Isham, RN.
