Notice Regarding ICE / Tribal ID Cards

Boozhoo Bois Forte Band Members and Community,

The Bois Forte Reservation Tribal Council would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family of the slain individual in yesterday’s tragic event in the Minneapolis community. We stand in solidarity with the Twin Cities and communities across Minnesota as we grieve the loss of a life taken and hold close all those impacted by this violence. In this moment of mourning, we also affirm our commitment to dignity, safety, and justice for all, and we oppose the ongoing, unjust actions of ICE that harm and destabilize our communities.

We are strongly encouraging our Band Members to be vigilant and carry their Bois Forte Tribal Identification card at all times.

For Band Members, our Human Resources/Tribal Enrollment Offices have scheduled visits to both Urban Offices to issue Tribal Identification Cards to Band Members who need them on the following dates:

• Tuesday, January 13th Minneapolis Urban Office 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
• Wednesday, January 14th Duluth Urban Office 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm

We have also scheduled additional dates on:

• Tuesday, February 3rd Minneapolis Urban Office 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
• Wednesday, February 4th Duluth Urban Office 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm

The Tribal Council will be waiving the fee for duplicate Tribal Identification Cards until July 31, 2026. Please bring one of the following to receive a Tribal ID:

• Original Certified Birth Certificate (no photocopies accepted)
• Valid State Issued Driver’s License (not expired)
• Valid State Issued Identification Card (not expired)
• Valid Passport

Finally, Band members should always remember that they have the right to remain silent when questioned by law enforcement, including ICE, and can demand a valid judicial warrant before law enforcement enters their home.
