Wild rice continues to develop on a schedule that puts it ready to harvest during the second week of September. An exact opening date is not yet set. The Committee is watching development closely and will announce an opening date as rice ripens. Current water levels are good and the rice is accessible. Additional rainfall is forecast over the next week, which will allow a water level increase for better access. Pollination is complete. Kernels are green, but filling. Kernels are approaching rubbery firm stage. Some kernels are still milk stage. Rice kernels are not freely falling yet. Rice beds are largely very dense coverage, with some thinner beds, but both thin and thick beds are ripening at approximately the same rate. The Committee will meet again to discuss conditions on Thursday, September 3, at 200 PM, Fish Room, RTC Government Building.
