StaySafeMN Customer Checklist for Bars and Restaurants
Bars and restaurants are required to take steps to keep you safe and help slow the spread of COVID-19. It is important to be aware of state requirements and support bars and restaurants’ efforts to ensure the health and safety of customers and workers.
This checklist can help you see if an establishment is taking the right steps to keep customers and workers safe. It provides questions to ask when making a reservation or entering a bar or restaurant:
Customer Checklist
- Are customers required to make reservations?
- Are all employees required to wear face coverings over their nose and mouth at all times?
- Are all customers required to wear face coverings over their nose and mouth while indoors, except when eating or drinking?
- Has the establishment marked areas that are 6 feet apart for customers to stand while waiting to be seated, to use the restroom, to order drinks, or food or pay their bill?
- Has the establishment taken steps to provide for 6 feet of social distancing or barriers between workers and customers?
- Are customers required to be seated at tables that are at least 6 feet apart and limited to parties of 10 people?
- Are customers at a bar seated at least six feet apart and limited to parties of 4 people?
- Is hand sanitizer available for customers when entering the facility and at points of purchase?
- Has the establishment removed or does it regularly disinfect “high-touch” items and surfaces?
- Are there signs posted for customers and employees stating they should not enter if they have COVID-19 symptoms and that include requirements for face coverings?
- Does the establishment have a written COVID-19 Preparedness Plan?
Bars and restaurants are allowed to have more strict requirements than what is required by the state.
