Notice: RTC Seeking General Election Board Members

The Bois Forte Reservation Tribal Council is seeking individuals interested in serving as a member of the General Election Board, the District I Election Board (Nett Lake), and the District II Election Board (Vermilion), Urban-Duluth Election Board, and Urban-Minneapolis Election Board for the upcoming Special Tribal Election (DI Vacancy). Must sign up between August 27, 2025 – September 10, 2025.

The Primary Election will be held on October 28, 2025.

The General Election will be held on December 29, 2025 (Monday).

The rate of pay will be:

General Election Board Chair: $22.00 per hour

General Election Board Members: $18.00 per hour

District I, District II, and Urban Offices Election Boards:  $14.00 per hour

All election board members who work on election day will receive a $250 bonus for each election day worked, which will be paid at the end of the election.

• General Election Board Members will work 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday – Friday (subject to change) and 7:00 am to approximately midnight on Election Day.
• District I, District II and Urban Election Board Members will work 7:00 am to approximately midnight on Election Day.

Those that are appointed will be subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

MCT Election Ordinance (As Amended on 12/11/2023)

Section 1.7E. No candidate for election, no member of a Candidate’s immediate family, not any member of the Band governing body will be appointed to serve on any election board or as an Election Contest Judge or Alternate Election Contest Judge. The term “immediate family” as used herein will be determined by the Band governing body.

Section 303. “Immediate Family” as defined by the Tribal Council is as follows:

• Spouse – Husband/Wife/Significant Other
• Parent (Mother/Father) – Biological/Adoptive/Step/Loco Parentis*/In-Laws
• Child (Daughter/Son) – Biological/Adoptive/Foster/Step/Legal Ward
• Brother/Sister – Biological/Adoptive/Step/Half/In-Laws
• Grand/Great – Parent/Child/Step

*A person who is in the position or place of a parent.
