Bois Forte Public Health COVID-19 Case Announcement 11/23/21
Boozhoo All,
On November 22 there were 2 additional cases of COVID in the Bois Forte Community. We currently have 7 active cases on Reservation. More details are in the attachment.
St Louis County had over 2,000 cases in the past 2 weeks, this is their largest number in 2021. Cases are everywhere and there is no slow down in sight.
If you have new symptoms such as: runny nose, sore throat, fever, cough, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, loss of smell or taste, headache or fatigue. Please get tested. Do NOT come into work, go visiting or out to eat.
If you are exposed, whether you are vaccinated or not, please call and schedule a test between 5-7 days after last exposure. If you have symptoms, please call and get tested the following day.
Specifics for what to do if exposed:
Fully Vaccinated, exposure is at least 2 weeks after 2nd dose of Moderna/Phizer or 1st dose of Johnson& Johnson, NOT a household member OR Household member:
- You do NOT need to quarantine, but you should be very cautious. Please don’t visit high risk people. Wear a mask and monitor for symptoms for 2 weeks after the last day of contact with the positive case.
- Please schedule a test between 5-7 days after the last day of contact. If you have symptoms, please stay home, schedule a test the next day after symptoms started and separate yourself from others.
Partially vaccinated or non-vaccinated and the contact is NOT a household member
- You DO need to quarantine! You can not have contact with anyone outside of your household, enter any public building or have anyone new into your house. You should also try to separate from others that live in your household.
- Please schedule to get tested 5-7 days after the last day of contact. If you are negative you can leave the house on the 8th day (You need to quarantine for the full 7 days) after the last day of contact with the positive case. If you are positive you will need to follow isolation guidelines given to you.
Partially vaccinated or non-vaccinated and the contact IS a HOUSEHOLD member
- You DO need to quarantine! You can not have contact with anyone outside of your household, enter any public building or have anyone new into your house. You should also try to separate from others that live in your household.
- Please schedule to get tested 5-7 days after the last day of contact. If you are negative you can leave the house on the 15th day (You need to quarantine for the full 14 days) after the last day of contact with the positive case. Which is a very long time if you don’t separate from the positive case. Your 14 days starts the LAST day your household member is contagious, which is 10 days after the first day they have symptoms.
I’m urging everyone to please be cautious, especially with the long holiday weekend. Please limit the number of people you are exposed to that don’t live in your household. Wear a mask if possible. PLEASE get your booster if it’s been more than 6 months since your last vaccine. Please get vaccinated if you have not yet. The life you save could be your own, a high risk coworker, family member or friend.
Please stay safe and be well.
