1854 Area Subsistence Moose Hunters Requested

The 1854 Treaty Area Office has requested 3-4 Bois Forte Members who would like to harvest a subsistence moose for the Bois Forte Community. Hunters must be enrolled Bois Forte Members with valid 1854 ID cards.

Interested persons should call Conservation Officer Nic Buchholz (218) 404-2228 or Conservation Officer Brianna Whiteman (218) 750-3447, and provide name and contact information by 4:30 PM, Wednesday, July 29. The compiled list will be forwarded to Bois Forte Tribal Council for hunter selection.

Selected persons will be notified and should contact Morgan Swingen at 1854 Treaty Office to obtain a hunter application packet at (218) 481-7010. Subsistence hunt applications must be submitted to the 1854 Treaty Office by close of business on Friday, August 7. Final hunter packets with permits and tags will be issued by 1854 by September 3.

Subsistence hunters are still eligible for a regular 1854 moose tag and may also apply for Bois Forte Reservation moose lottery consideration.
