2022 Wild Rice Harvest
The Bois Forte Conservation Committee and the Tribal Council voted earlier today to cancel the 2022 Wild Rice Harvest.
The decision was made due to poor conditions for wild rice.
There will be a ceremonial pick so that an offering can be done and then the lake will be closed for wild ricing for the year. It is unknown when that ceremonial pick will take place.
“This was a very difficult decision for us to make and we apologize to all band members who were looking forward to the season,” said Bois Forte Tribal Chair Cathy Chavers.
