Bois Forte Public Health COVID-19 Case Announcement 1/11/22

Posted January 11, 2022

Boozhoo,

We had 12 cases case’s yesterday.  9 in Nett and 3 in Vermilion.  We currently have 23 active cases on the Reservation.  This is a HUGE jump.  We had 13 case in the entire month of December.  Omicron is obviously here, we can not test for it, but we can see by the jump in cases that it has reached us.  The entire state has increased, they currently have the highest daily case counts we’ve seen in the entire pandemic.  This is depressing news, since we are almost 2 full years into this.

The good news is that the vaccine seems to be helping decrease how sick people are, which decreases the number of people who will need to be hospitalized and in the ICU.  Yes, you can still get sick but you won’t be as sick.

What can you do to keep your coworkers, community and yourself safe?

  • Please continue to wear a mask with all interactions outside of your household and while you’re at work
  • Keep your distance from others at work and out in the community if able
  • Get your vaccine-  make sure you’ve gotten your 2 initial doses and get your booster if it’s been more than 5 months for Pfizer, 6 months for moderna and 2 months for Johnson & johnson
  • Get tested if you have any symptoms!  Omicron seems to be quite mild in some people so stay away from others and get tested right away if you have a new runny nose, cough, fever, sore throat
  • Stay home if you have been exposed or test positive!

Miigwech everyone for all of your hard work.  It is much appreciated.
