Start the School Year Off Right!

Get your child's school year started off right with a good book bag, lots of school supplies, and a preventive health visit with their regular doctor. Along with assuring good health, a preventive health visit can find and treat hidden health problems early before they cause lasting harm. Vaccines are also given during these visits. Make an appointment today to help kep your child as healthy as possible so they can learn and grow to their full potential.

Child & Teen Checkups (C&TC)

This program is a preventive health care benefit for children ages birth through 20 who have MinnesotaCare or Medical Assistance that provides preventive health visits with the child's doctor or primary clinic. Help with finding a doctor or dentist, scheduling appointments, finding transportation, or arranging for an interpreter is available by calling St. Louis County Public Health & Human Services: Duluth 218-725-5210, Virginia 218-749-0600, or toll free 800-450-9777.

Youth Language Camp

Twenty six Summer Youth participants from Nett Lake and Vermilion traveled to Echo Lake Campground on July 20 for a three day Language Camp sponsored by the Bois Forte Culture Committee.

The kids, who wore name tags with their Indian name, had a full schedule including daily language lessons, teachings on Ceremonies, Powwow etiquette, making fry bread, canoe safety, dream catcher and basket making, and cultural games. When they had a rare free moment, they headed to the lake for swimming and fishing. Click here to enjoy photos of the Language Camp.
