JOB SUMMARY:

The Risk Manager is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for employees and a safe entertainment and hospitality environment for customers of Fortune Bay Resort Casino and the Bois Forte Development Companies through comprehensive and effective safety planning and programming. The Risk Manager incorporates loss-prevention strategies and management for the protection of assets and ensures the management is operating within the parameters of all environmental, health and safety compliance and regulations.  The incumbent will investigate claims of injury from employees and customers, and shall manage the company’s workers’ compensation, safety, liability and EMS programs. The Risk Manager will conduct regular safety and risk management training to the workforces of Fortune Bay Resort Casino and the Bois Forte Development Corporation Companies.  The incumbent shall work in conjunction with designated Tribal Council personnel to coordinate emergency preparedness and emergency response planning for the facility and Bois Forte Development Companies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Risk Manager must possess a four-year college degree in Occupational Safety or other equivalent major and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety-related field.  The Risk Manager should have considerable knowledge in the areas of risk management, safety management programming, occupational safety, food safety, hazardous material safety, fire procedures, fire control systems, emergency planning, accident investigations, workers compensation, drug testing administration, and first aid/CPR.   Additional competencies/requirements are as follows:

• Knowledgeable in liability insurance and overall property risk management
• EMT Certified or willingness to be certified
• Knowledgeable in Workers’ Compensation programming and case management
• Knowledgeable in accident investigations and interviewing
• Possess strong computer skills
• Strong administrative skills and program development skills
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
• Possess strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s insurance program
